Warsaw, 21 October 2025 — According to preliminary data from Statistics Poland (GUS), construction and assembly output increased by 0.2% year-on-year in September 2025 (in constant prices), while recording a strong 20.6% month-on-month rebound following seasonal holiday effects.
After seasonal adjustment, output declined by 2.2% versus September 2024, signalling underlying softness in the sector despite short-term recovery momentum.
The performance across construction segments remained highly uneven. Production increased sharply in enterprises focused on specialised construction activities (+10.7% y/y), while output declined in building construction (–3.8% y/y) and civil engineering works (–3.0% y/y).
In the January–September 2025 period, total construction output was down 0.8% versus the same period of 2024, with investment-oriented works declining 1.5%, while repair and maintenance activities expanded by 0.8% — indicating a shift toward defensive, operational expenditure rather than new capital projects.
From a demand perspective, investment-driven construction increased 2.4% y/y in September, partially recovering from a steep contraction a year earlier. However, repair-oriented works fell 4.6%, highlighting divergent dynamics within the sector.
“While September delivered a technical rebound in Polish construction output, the underlying trend — particularly after seasonal adjustment — remains flat to slightly negative. The sector is being supported by specialised projects and selected infrastructure activity, but private building investment remains under pressure. The coming quarter will be critical in determining whether momentum can sustain into 2026.”
